DYSLEXIA SCREENING
Concerned your child may be struggling with reading?
You're not alone, and you're in the right place.
At Raising Hands Tutoring, we offer early screening for characteristics of dyslexia to help families identify reading challenges and take action early.
What is a Dyslexia Screening?
A dyslexia screening is a short, research-based assessment that helps identify whether a child is showing early signs of dyslexia or other reading difficulties. It is not a formal diagnosis, but it can provide valuable insights to guide next steps in instruction or evaluation. The screening takes 1-1.5 hours and you will receive a full written report that can be shared with teachers, schools and services providers.
Who is it for?
Children in grades K to 5 who are struggling with reading, spelling, or writing
Families who feel something isn't quite clicking with reading
Students who have received help in school or through tutoring but are still falling behind
What does it include?
A one-on-one session with a certified dyslexia specialist
A review of your child’s phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and spelling skills
A written summary with clear next steps
An optional follow-up consultation to help you understand your options
Why screen for dyslexia?
Early identification can make a big difference. Children with dyslexia are often overlooked or misidentified, which can lead to frustration and lost confidence. A screening gives families answers and can point the way to effective support.
What happens next?
If the screening shows signs of dyslexia, we’ll help you understand your options. That might include targeted tutoring, school-based supports, or a referral for a full diagnostic evaluation. Our goal is to give you the clarity and confidence to move forward.
